Alpe d'Huez twice: the pivot of the 2026 Tour
18 June 2026·5 min read
The 2026 Tour de France finishes on Alpe d'Huez two days in a row. Why this unique double could decide the entire race.
A unique double
On Friday 24 and Saturday 25 July the Tour finishes twice in a row on the legendary 21 hairpins of Alpe d'Huez. First a short, explosive stage from Gap, then a long queen stage with multiple cols. This is unique in modern Tour history.
Why this decides everything
After three weeks of racing and with fatigue at its peak, these two days can swing the race by minutes. Whoever is strongest here will almost certainly ride to Paris in yellow.
