The favourites for the 2026 Tour de France

1 June 2026·6 min read

Pogačar versus Vingegaard, and a new generation knocking on the door. These are the contenders for the 2026 yellow jersey.

Pogačar remains the man to beat

Tadej Pogačar dominated the spring again with wins at Strade Bianche, Milan–San Remo, the Tour of Flanders and Liège–Bastogne–Liège. He chose a quiet build-up with the Tour de Romandie and Tour de Suisse, and is chasing a record-equalling fifth Tour title.

Vingegaard, the eternal challenger

Jonas Vingegaard prepared at altitude in Tignes and looks sharper than the last two years. The two-time Tour winner has never finished lower than second in five attempts — and is desperate to win again.

The podium hunters

Behind the duo a strong field fights for the last podium spot: Remco Evenepoel with his time-trialling power, the resilient Primož Roglič, talent Juan Ayuso and the just-19-year-old Paul Seixas, the youngest Tour starter since the 1930s.
