Alcossebre Castellón

A big novelty: stage 6 features 3.5 km of unpaved sterrato road just before the final climb toward Castellón.

Sterrato arrives at the Vuelta

For the first time in Vuelta history, a sector of unpaved sterrato road appears — tucked away in the little-known mountains of northern Valencia. The 3.5 km of gravel sits just before the final climb and could scramble the GC early.

Crash and puncture risk

Unpaved terrain plus a tough uphill finish is an explosive combination: positioning before the gravel sector becomes crucial, and bad luck on the sterrato could cost a GC rider his Vuelta in one stroke.
